Guide In Cleaning Of Lathes For Sale

by lathesfo on July 14, 2011

The majority of lathes for sale would typically be covered in grease when you first received it from shipment because it is usually coated with one before shipping in order to make sure that it would not corrode in any way. Therefore, don’t be hasty and start working right away since the grease would make everything messy, shiny and slippery and it would be dangerous if the work piece you are working on slide from its holder and flew towards you.

The right course of action is to get a clean piece of cloth or a paper towel will do, and start wiping out the grease on all sections of lathes for sale. This will collect the major particles of the grease and it is very possible that it would make the cloth soaked with it before you are done or in case with paper towel, just get another one since a paper soaked with grease would just spread more grease if you use it more.

After getting most of the grease on the surfaces of the lathe, it would then be the right time to wipe it with paint thinner in order to remove the remaining minor particles of grease that stick to the surface. Don’t worry about the coating of the lathe as it is usually painted with a special coating and it will not be easily dissolve by ordinary paint thinner.

Once you are able to apply thinner of all of the surfaces of the lathes for sale, it would then the perfect time to apply a thin layer of synthetic motor oil on it in order to prevent any corrosion while at the same time not slippery to use.
